Film Incentive
Overview
Film making like all other industries is dependent on financing and cost effectiveness. Thailand offers incredible production value with the added attraction of a proven film incentive.
Thailand’s Cash Rebate

The Thailand Film Incentive Measures are a cash rebate on local Baht spend. To qualify, a film permit needs to be obtained which takes up to ten workdays. A minimum spend of 50 million Baht is required for 15%, 100 million for 20% and a spend of over 150 million Baht for a 25% rebate. The total percentage rebated can be increased up to 30% based on qualifying elements like postproduction, locations and hire of Thai HoDs.
An important update to the incentive is there is now no cap on the total rebated per film or series.
15% – 30% of Baht spend is rebated on audited accounts; the rebate is transferred direct to the overseas account of the beneficiary in USD.
Thai Occidental Productions has consistently achieved over 90% of all Thai spend to qualify for the rebate and can arrange for the incentive to be cash flowed during the production period.
The Incentive Rebate is straightforward, reliable and has a proven record. Although a lower percentage than some countries, the infrastructure, competitive suppliers, expertise of crew and lower costs makes Thailand by far the best production value in the region.
The Thailand Film Office which oversees the incentive, is helpful and constructive. Film making is valued with tolerance and understanding of creative content and freedom.
